Welcome Tenuta Sanoner!

21 September 2016

A young winery of Orcia wine enters the Consortium, a hearty welcome to Tenuta Sanoner

Last September the Sanoner family, owners of the prestigious Adler Thermae Spa Resort inaugurated their new winery at Sant’Anna on the hills above Bagno Vignoni. The modern innovative winery was built in the place where the first hectare of Sangiovese vines were planted in 2010, around some ancient oak trees. The same year the Sanoners’ fascinating new entrepreneurial  project began.

The winery has a stupendous view over the Val d’Orcia, a breathtaking panorama where the characteristic historic towns of the valley can be seen. UNESCO heritage site listed in 2004, Pienza, Monticchiello, Radicofani, Rocca d’Orcia and even Montepulciano are visible on clear days. A perfect “winery with a view”, a feature which characterizes the Orcia wine estates.

The harvesting of 2016 used the new concrete vats for fermenting grapes where the grapes are put by means of a dropping system which preserves their quality. From the beginning the producers decided to aim for quality valorizing Sangiovese, the local vine and the Orcia denomination. They follow the principles of biological agriculture, limiting the use of products authorized by the regulations and searching for quality in the grapes and meticulous care in the winery, adopting cutting edge methods.

During the inauguration we had the pleasure of tasting their wines: “Aetos” Orcia Rosé and Orcia Sangiovese, while the Reserve Orcia Sangiovese still rested in the barrels.

Another extraordinary surprise was the sparkling Rosé wine produced from local grapes.

If you happen to be in San Quirico we invite you to visit this winery open to wine tours. For information and reservation call 0577-1698707, info@tenuta-sanoner.it.
