Decanter Awards 2017 for Orcia Doc Wines
5 July 2017Six Orcia Doc wines obtain “Decanter” 2017 awards, silver and bronze medals and “commended” recognition
Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) are given in the most prestigious wine competition in the world. Judged by authoritative experts and professionals in the wine business, the competition is recognized on an international level for the reliability of its meticulous process of tasting and selection. In the fourteenth edition almost 18 thousand wines arrived from all over the world for selection. The wines were judged by authoritative experts and professionals in the international wine business. Italy performed very well obtaining 16 platinum, 58 gold, 525 silver and 1302 bronze medals.
For Tuscany 746 samples were tasted and 415 wines were award winners, 19 gold medals, 158 silver medals, 238 bronze medals as well as 117 “commended”.

SILVER MEDALS
“ Petrucci” Orcia 2013 produced by the Podere Forte winery in Castiglione d’Orcia, scored 92/100 points.
“Arcere” Orcia 2013 produced by Roberto Mascelloni in Castiglione d’Orcia, scored 91/100 points.
BRONZE MEDALS
“Leone Rosso” Orcia 2015 produced by Donatella Cinelli Colombini in Trequanda, Fattoria del Colle, 88/100 points.”
“Petruccino” Orcia 2014 produced by Podere Forte, 88/100 points.
“Sesterzo” Orcia Sangiovese 2013 produced by the Poggio Grande winery in Castiglione d’Orcia, 86/100 points.
COMMENDED
“Centosei” Orcia 2013 produced by the Pometti winery in Trequanda obtained the “commended” recognition with 85/100 points.
The Italian medal winners were concentrated mainly in Tuscany and Piemonte, an indication of the privileged attention given to these two great wine producing regions.
All in all the excellent results obtained by Orcia Doc wines recompense the commitment and dedication of the producers of our denomination.
